Eye Candy: McFarlane Building Five Nights at Freddy's: The Office

The phenomenon of Five Nights at Freddy's is a very modern thing, much like Adventure Time's rise to popularity among younger viewers. When we first talked to the Adventure Time crew, we asked who their weird little show was meant for. Unanimously, they said US. Older folks..25-40, who are bizarre and love to laugh at odball characters being completely random. Surprisingly, the super intelligent while still profoundly silly, often very thoughtful show struck a chord with kids and so, the content needed to be chilled out a bit and rendered "safe" for little minds. That...seeeeems to be what's happening to Five Nights at Freddy's?? I can't speak to the future of the license, but I can say that creepy children pulling at the purse strings of their parents has created a MIGHTY NEED for merchandise, making it's way to you...right...meow.


McFarlane Toys adds Five Nights to their building series with, what I think, are the most fun items one twisted human being can buy for the video game series. We begin our look at McFarlanes building sets with...THE OFFICE! Here's the company line:

THE OFFICE CONSTRUCTION SET – Walmart Exclusive

The Office (also known as the Security Guard’s Office) is the “safest” room in the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Restaurant or that’s what what each new security guard thinks when they start their first night shift. However, they quickly learn that only sheer luck and heart-pounding video camera reconnaissance is the only way to survive five nights in this cursed pizzeria. Even after fending off a host of killer animatronics, not even reinforced steel doors can save the night guard from “Golden Freddy,” the horrific hallucination that appears out of thin air!

The Office set features a Golden Freddy figure, party balloons, celebrate poser, CRT security monitors, children’s drawings, party balloons, metal fan, stereo speaker, pink cup cake and soda cup (I did not see a soda cup)! This set contains approximately 119 pieces and all of the pieces are compatible with other construction brands!

The Office set can also nest together with Pirate Cove, Backstage and Show Stage sets to create a bigger Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Restaurant!

Now...A little set like this...I can handle. My easily distracted mind still needed to focus solely and intently on the task at hand, but my stupid fingers needed to cooperate fully as well and this...does not always happen, leading to cursing and crying and gently asking the bricks why they won't come together in harmony, as God intended. Not being able to mark their bags at all, the user is forced to use the "dump it all out on the table" method, fishing out pieces as needed and sighing heavily when they think McFarlane has screwed them by not including a piece here and there (which tends to happen once per build actually.) We curse the sky, fists flailing wildly...then go back to work.

Fully assembled, The Office is incredible fun with McFarlane's signature sculpted pieces complimenting a build made with your blood, sweat and tears. The tight little space speaks of the claustrophobic nature of the video game as one sits in wait for dawn, checking cameras for movement from rogue terminators dressed as demented, forgotten Chuck E Cheese characters out for flesh....or your cupcake. We never find out. The included Golden Freddy is packed with the detailed sculpt McFarlane is known for and does so, so well! Golden Freddy is, by far, the least creepy of the Freddy's bunch...but you need the office, so you get the Freddy, and know that if this awesome looking figure is the first level of terrifying, there's nowhere to go but dowwwwn.
